An important element of our work as temporary works designers and demolition engineers is raising awareness of the role of temporary works within the construction industry and associated best practice.

As part of our commitment to this, we have developed and made available a vast array of temporary works and demolition engineering educational resources to the engineering community.

These include the following:

  • Hosting regular CPD webinars
  • Annotated temporary works flowchart (tailored to role)
  • Downloadable temporary works design brief
  • Offer in-company CPD sessions
  • Guest lectures and talks

Temporary Works Webinar

Since April 2020, our team has hosted regular webinars focused on different elements of temporary works and demolition engineering.

Each webinar focuses on a specific element of temporary works or demolition engineering. It then reviews the key concepts related to the topic and relevant standards and guidance.

Webinars also include illustrative case studies to highlight key elements or common engineering challenges.

Recent webinar topics include

  • Temporary Works Design Check Categories
  • Demolition Engineering
  • Basement Temporary Works
  • Bridge Demolition
  • Propping and Needling

Access to recordings – The recordings of these sessions are made available on our website and we have an extensive library of more than 50 previous webinars.

YouTube channel – we also have a dedicated YouTube channel that features the recordings as well as selected snippets that focus on specific case studies or engineering elements.

Email list – We have an email list that provides invites to upcoming webinars as well as additional resources as they are released.

Temporary Works Flowchart

Our Temporary Works Flowchart provides a step-by-step guide for construction professionals, including contractors, engineers, and project managers.

The original Temporary Works Procedures Flowchart was a PDF that was downloaded and used by hundreds of engineers and contractors to understand the role of Temporary Works in their projects.

Due to updates and the scope of BS 5975:2019, the flowchart was converted into an interactive website that is tailored to different roles: Principal Contractor, Managing Contractor and Subcontractor.
